Kevin Nelson was promoted to Therapy Center Manager in 2006. Kevin is a certified, licensed occupational therapist (OT) within New Jersey. He graduated with honors from Kean University, with a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2002. In 2015, Kevin completed his Masters in Healthcare Management from The College of Saint Elizabeth.
Kevin has been practicing for 16 years. During his time as a clinician Kevin has provided school, early education/intervention, and clinic-based OT services for children between the ages of 3 months to 22 years old, as well as medically-based OT for two local hospitals.
Kevin has attended numerous continuing education during his time as a clinician, including becoming an authorized provider of The Listening Program®, Therapeutic Listening®, Astronaut Training®, and the Interactive Metronome®, and completing his four-week Certificate in Sensory Integration (SIPT). Kevin has also attended several Autism courses, an eight-week pediatric manual handling course, the M.O.R.E.® course, Handwriting Without Tears®, and The Alert Program: How Does Your Engine Run?®
Kevin has utilized his knowledge and experience to assist the community. He has presented to parents and families, educators, directors, and administrators of school districts and private schools, and the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) on topics such as early intervention, fine motor and handwriting development, sensory diets, and sensory integration development and strategies. Further, Kevin has organized and implemented several successful pediatric programs such as One-Step-at-a-Time Karate, Kinect Kids, Gross Motor Circus, Scribbles to Script, Typing Whizkids, MyTrinitas Age-Specific Movement Classes, Therapeutic Yoga, Learn to Ride bike riding lessons, and programs for teaching bowling, T-Ball, and Sports Readiness. One program that Kevin is most proud of is Camp Trinitas, a summer enrichment camp for children with sensory, motor, and behavioral needs.
One of Kevin's many passions is teaching and consulting. He has used this passion over his career while serving on the faculty for the Early Education Department at Montclair State University and the Occupational Therapy Departments of Kean University and Seton Hall University. Additionally, Kevin acted as the lead pediatric consultant for the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program at Raritan Valley Community College, designing the curriculum, syllabi, and coursework for their five pediatric courses.
Kevin believes that he and the amazing therapy center staff have cultivated an environment where families feel comfortable and kids can be kids. He looks forward to helping the practice continue to grow and be successful.
In 2018, Kevin is managing Trinitas moving away from a fee-for-service model, to third party reimbursement. Trinitas will begin this transformation with Horizon, and will then move to additional insurance companies.
